We will continue to explore and apply technologies that allow our business units to conduct their businesses and collaborate seamlessly as a Group.

The Group continues its push for Group-wide IT initiatives to streamline and coordinate the various Strategic Business Units’ IT processes, systems and platforms. These include common IT infrastructure and services such as messaging service, file sharing and access, financial system, document management, Intranet, Virtual Private Network Access and Network Security.

The common IT infrastructure is based on a standardised single Data Centre, integrated hardware and software, pooled databases and a wide area network that covers Singapore and oversea offices. It lets the Group optimise the overall IT infrastructural cost amongst the SBUs and results in the inter-operability of the IT systems. We will continue to enhance the IT infrastructure for the Group through the use of various emerging and mature technologies such as virtualisation, Voice over IP (VoIP) and pervasive wireless communication and network availability. This will facilitate the various offices to collaborate more closely and effectively by using technology to bridge geographic barriers.

The implementation of the Group Financial System proceeded according to plan and to date, we have successfully implemented SAP Financial for all Singapore and oversea companies in countries like China, Malaysia and Bahrain. Implementation for the rest of the overseas locations, including the final phase for China, is expected be completed by 2008.

Other Group-wide IT system implementations include the Workflow System that digitises current manual forms and processes to vastly improve the efficiency of existing work processes. The Directorship and Secretariat system was implemented to manage Secretariat information and data more efficiently and effectively. The Applicants’ Information Management System, whereby its centralised databases allow for more effective management of the potential applicants within the Group.

Various Business Units’ specific IT systems are also implemented to support the businesses. In Retail, the Centre Management Dashboard was implemented to give Centre Management Office a quick overview and analysis of all mall-related activities and sales, so that decisions can be made with readily-available information and data. The Electronic Lucky Draw system, which also allows premium gift redemption, was introduced in our Singapore malls. Tenants’ Point-of-Sales systems were also integrated into the malls, as well as streamlined workflow for electronic meter reading and billing for the tenants. We have implemented the Document Management and Repository System to facilitate proper filing and retrieval of documents for ISO90001 in the Commercial business unit. For the Residential business unit, Site Management and Resource Tracking System was implemented to allow efficient resource deployment and response at various sites.

We will continue to explore and apply technologies that allow our business units to conduct their
businesses and collaborate seamlessly as a Group, as well as add value to individual SBU business propositions and process efficiency.
