Lot One Shoppers’ Mall raised over S$45,000 for families in need this Lunar New Year

Singapore, 5 March 2018 - Lot One Shoppers’ Mall (Lot One) has successfully raised over S$45,000 as part of its ‘Share the Blessings’ annual charity initiative to support families in need.  The mall collected donations of more than S$22,700 from the public over the weekend of 24 and 25 February 2018 during the Lunar New Year festive season, and the amount was matched dollar-for-dollar by CapitaLand’s philanthropic arm, CapitaLand Hope Foundation. The funds raised will support family and children beneficiaries under the care of Fei Yue Family Service Centre (Choa Chu Kang).

In its second edition, ‘Share the Blessings’ this year was organised in collaboration with CapitaLand Hope Foundation, Mediacorp and SG Cares, a national movement dedicated to building a more caring and inclusive home for all.  The beneficiary, Fei Yue Family Service Centre is a non-profit voluntary welfare organisation that provides daily necessities to those in need.  Serving the community since 1991, Fei Yue assists more than 150,000 individuals and their families on average annually.  Fei Yue’s programmes support the needy in Singapore including families, youths and children with special needs.

Mr Leng Chin Fai, Executive Director of Fei Yue, said: "I am grateful for the strong support given by the corporate organisations and the communities.  Like most charities, Fei Yue is dependent too, on the vote of support and help given by corporates and the communities.  At Fei Yue, we are also looking at helping those in need in a sustained way.  I am grateful that Lot One and CapitaLand Hope Foundation's philanthropic efforts have helped our families. Indeed, everyone can help build a caring society."

At the ‘Share the Blessings’ roadshow held at Lot One, popular DJs from Mediacorp’s Chinese radio stations Yes 933, LOVE 97.2FM and CAPITAL 95.8FM engaged shoppers and listeners on and off air to raise funds.  During the roadshow, SG Cares (www.sgcares.sg) raised awareness of the newly launched SG Cares app. The app connects users with opportunities, stories and learning resources to encourage people in Singapore to volunteer and donate on the go.  Foldable paper hearts and SG Cares ‘Band Together’ wristbands were also given out to donors.
