Goh Beng Kwan

Goh Beng Kwan was one of the few artists from Singapore to study art overseas in the 1960s. He was accepted at the Art Students’ League of New York and studied under leading influence on the art of collage, Leo Manso. He returned to Singapore advocating abstract expressionism and forged a reputation as a daring and experimental artist. Goh won many awards including the grand prize of the 1982 UOB Painting of the Year and the Cultural Medallion in 1989.
