Space objects, including asteroids, are deemed lost if their trajectories are no longer traceable, and so objects newly discovered may simply be a rediscovery of previously lost objects. Melissa Tan likens this to the inevitable unpredictability of human lives, despite efforts to chart a direction. The Arc of Uncertainties series was inspired by this connection: from the asteroid-shaped paper-relief artwork, seemingly familiar forms emerge, only to disappear, waiting to be rediscovered again.
