Banana Breeze (Remembrance of Trees Past, Nassim Hill Atelier)
Type
Drawing, Charcoal on paper, 152x152cm , 2014
Artist
Jimmy Ong (b.1964), Singapore - United States
Location
The Nassim Basement 1, Singapore
Jimmy Ong stayed at Nassim Hill from 1993-1995. So when commissioned by CapitaLand to create a series of drawings for The Nassim, he was able to reminisce and revisit the area on which what are colloquially known as black and white houses are situated. Ong, known for his charcoal drawings, skillfully employs the medium in the style of chairoscuro - dramatically contrasted shadow and light - a fitting remembrance of the black and white houses.
This artwork was selected by CapitaLand for The Nassim.
