This is one of five paintings of Fan specially commissioned for Urban Resort and Urban Suites. The subject is the lotus, evocative of the tranquility of the lush landscape and reflective water surfaces of these developments. Fan painted the flowers in full bloom, with the leaves either thriving or withering. In executing each work, which has a distinct colour scheme, Fan uses western media and technique while maintaining an eastern sensibility in the composition and brush strokes.
