Paradise, with Heliconia plants as the subject, is made from many pieces of clay hand-cut from a large slab of clay. The artist then fired them in a gas kiln and created ceramic pieces with slight difference in textures and tonality from one another. All the pieces are mounted with a gap above a dark background to give a sense of depth.  This elegant work is a subtle interpretation of a lush tropical garden.
