The Elevation of Togetherness
Type
Sculpture, Powder-coated stainless steel, 2014
Artist
Daisy Boman (b.1948), Belgium
Location
Sky Habitat Level 1, Singapore
The first instance that Belgium artist Daisy Boman uses bright red stainless steel strips to represent the silhouette of the human form, “The Elevation of Togetherness” celebrates human interconnectivity, human relationship and life itself. Featuring a family of five, it draws our attention to the unconditional bond between parents and children, and that among the children themselves. Boman called all her figures Bo-men – a name conspicuously derived from her own surname - with a belief that all men are born equal, and there is a oneness of the human race despite each person’s uniqueness.
