One of two paintings with women as the subject displayed at the residents' lounge of Somerset Liang Court. Characteristic of the Nanyang style, these paintings portray facets of life in South East Asia. In this piece, two women in ethnic costumes share a moment of tenderness in the shade of a tree. One of them combs the other’s hair before putting on some flowers from the basket in the foreground. This work was executed with a traditional Chinese painting technique by first outlining everything in ink and then filling them with colours.
