Fun, fun and more fun awaited CapitaLand staff and their families at CapitaLand Family Day 2013
Fun, fun and more fun awaited CapitaLand staff and their families at CapitaLand Family Day 2013

Splish, splash and splatter! If fun could be served on a platter, the recent CapitaLand Family Day would be it. Held over two days at the Adventure Cove Waterpark at Resorts World Sentosa, more than 3,600 CapitaLand staff and their family members spent an enjoyable weekend bonding over adrenaline-pumping rides and unique attractions. Even the weather was perfect – a slight drizzle in the morning cleared quickly and a cool weather ensued.

The aquatic adventure park brought endless splashes of fun for everyone. CapitaLand staff and their family members enjoyed exciting waterslides such as Southeast Asia’s first hydro-magnetic coaster, and swayed to the crashing waves at the Bluwater Bay wave pool. Many were glad to simply journey down Adventure River and pass through 14 stunning scenes such as a tropical jungle garden and a grotto inhabited by whimsical sea creatures. It was truly a memorable experience!

And it is an experience that CapitaLand hopes that each employee would value, especially with their loved ones. Group Chief Corporate Officer, CapitaLand Limited, Tan Seng Chai, said, “Family day has been an important event in showcasing the company’s credo of 'Building People'. People are not just employees, they are part of our big family. Every major decision they make in their jobs and the way they spend time in the company directly or indirectly impact their families. By bringing their families together, we hope to make them feel a sense of belonging  and be proud to be a part of the larger CapitaLand family. It’s wonderful to see everyone relaxing, having fun, letting their hair down and getting to know each other beyond the workplace.”

Wander in Wonderment

Rainbow Reef was a clear favourite amongst the staff and their family, where they could snorkel amongst 20,000 fish from 60 species and feel the fish tickling their skin! The majestic sight of schools of fish in all their splendour and kaleidoscopic colours left a wonderful impression on Sarah Tan, 18-year-old daughter of Felix Tan, Senior Human Resource Manager, The Ascott Limited.

“The snorkelling was cool because we got to see all the fishes. At first it was quite scary, but after while it was fine. I’d love to come back here again!” Sarah gushed.

Tan, too, was pleased, “I’m very happy that she came with me. Family day is a good time for family bonding, and to get to know other colleagues as well.”

Evelyn Ong, Finance Manager, CapitaLand Limited, had a great time rocking to the waves at Bluwater Bay with her husband, son and daughter. “It has been fun and interesting! It’s a good day for bonding with the family. I enjoyed going around in the Adventure River.”

Her 10-year-old son Wygene Ng chipped in, “It’s a nice, cool and awesome experience!” Her husband agreed, “It’s fun and today’s weather is fantastic. This year is unique; it is fun to get wet and not be confined to an area!”

A Fun Welcome

The Family Day not only gave a warm welcome to staff’s family, but also provided an opportunity for new staff to bond with fellow colleagues, welcoming them to the larger CapitaLand family.

For Daniel Ng, Assistant Vice President, Marketing Communications, CapitaLand Singapore (Commercial) who joined the company in April, it was a wonderful experience together with his wife and three children. “It’s nice that CapitaLand is investing in its people in this way. It’s fantastic for me as a new staff, especially, to know that there are such initiatives. It’s an extra touch by the company for staff wellbeing and bonding with colleagues.”

Family Day at the Adventure Cove Waterpark couldn’t be more apt because a family goes through highs and lows together; and a family that has fun together, stays together. After a day of getting wet and wild, everyone brought home great memories of the splashes of fun they enjoyed and undoubtedly, looked forward to the next Family Day!
