CapitaLand's #BuildSG2065 initiative is inviting Singaporeans to share their ideas of what Singapore's built environment will look like in 50 years' time
Homes in the sky, underground-offices, underwater-malls - CapitaLand invites you to share your ideas of what Singapore's built environment will look like in 50 years' time via its #BuildSG2065 initiative

50 years from now, what kind of homes will our children and grandchildren be living in? What will their offices be like? Will they be able to experience underwater malls and homes? Will the sky be the limit?

“I want to have a home that will expand to become a larger space at the touch of a button once you are inside even though it may be small on the outside. So, all my family members can live together,” says nine-year-old Alethea Leow.

“I would love to have all-in-one super buildings with solar panels, sky gardens, and vertical, anti-gravitational, air-conditioned playgrounds and event spaces to play and party in,” says 29-year-old Joanna.

“I want conveyor-belt pavements so I can just hop onto these mobile pavement and go anywhere I want. It’ll be so much faster and easier to get around,” quips 13-year-old Rohit Joseph.

That’s the kind of blue-sky thinking CapitaLand hopes to generate with its latest initiative, ‘Building Communities – Setting the Stage for Singapore2065’ (#BuildSG2065). Part of the Group’s year-long series of activities in celebration of SG50, #BuildSG2065 began last month with a digital platform, Capitaland.com/BuildSG2065 . CapitaLand invites everyone to imagine what Singapore– be it homes, neighbourhoods, or community spaces - will look like when the country turns 100.

“Through #BuildSG2065, we would like fellow Singaporeans to share ideas about how buildings, homes and green spaces can help build a better future for us to live, work and play in Singapore. CapitaLand wants to give back to the community because we care for our stakeholders and always strive to put them first,” says Mr Lim Ming Yan, President & Group CEO, CapitaLand Limited.

“Real estate is about more than just creating landmarks. Our buildings have a lasting impact – when we build buildings, we create communities where people can live, grow and fulfill their dreams. As we celebrate SG50, we will journey with the nation to build the stage for the next 50 – Singapore2065. CapitaLand is committed to create a sustainable built environment that enhances the lives of Singaporeans today and in the future”.

Dream Big for Singapore

Skyscrapers that reach to the clouds, communal farms in the sky, gyms that float on water, buildings suspended in the air, an entire dome over Singapore turning it into a temperature-regulated paradise, offices that burrow deep beneath the ground, malls underwater affording us spectacular views of the ocean life – the possibilities for a greener, more sustainable, more dynamic Singapore landscape run the gamut.

Share your ideas – original images, videos and text – at capitaland.com/BuildSG2065 from now till 30 April 2015. A collaborative effort with the Straits Times, #BuildSG2065 is open to everyone, children included.
