A woman's truth
We are multihyphenates - mother, daughter, partner, colleague... to all the women who juggle the many roles in life while they continue to empower their peers, let's celebrate you.
We are daughters first, perhaps spouses later and probably even mothers at some point.
We are also students, teammates, executives, managers, bosses, leaders. Some of us painters, musicians, bakers, travellers, photographers.
Being a woman is not a singular, uniform experience. We go on our own journey of learnings, adventures, mistakes and soul-searching - we are strong, passionate, thoughtful and so much more.
Being a daughter
Every little girl observes the way women around her move, talk, socialise and react. We model ourselves after the women we are surrounded by when we grow up.
As daughters, we try to live up to the expectations of our mothers. Sometimes, we falter. We may not be the best versions of ourselves always and we may not be able to give them the finest things in life they so deserve. But we should also remember that very often, all a mother wants is our time and companionship. To feel special, needed and nothing more.
"Very often, all a mother wants is our time and companionship. To feel special, needed & nothing more."
Being a spouse
For the lucky ones among us, we meet special people and we fall in love. Perhaps we'll encounter a few 'misfits', probably boys our mothers did not approve of.
Of course, we are not solely defined by our marital or relationship status. We are unique individuals, equals and peers in every relationship - bringing something special and sometimes differing perspectives to the table. Speak your mind and be honest, objective, supportive.
Do not be afraid to say we need time for ourselves. To recharge, reinvent and create new versions of ourselves.
Go on that girls' trip you've been talking about, sign up for that yoga class you've been thinking about. Make time for yourself.
"Do not be afraid to say we need time for ourselves. To recharge, reinvent and create new versions of ourselves."
Being a boss
Empower others, lift them up and shine as a team. Many times, we try our best to stay afloat and not inconvenience others with our tasks. We forget to ask for help and we punish ourselves in silence. Communicate.
Choose the less-punishing route to achieve the desired outcomes. Keep your eye on the prize but don't forget to win as a team. Encourage your subordinates, inspire your peers and be motivated by your mentors.
"Keep your eye on the prize but don't forget to win as a team."
Being a mother
Keeping things in check - making sure the kids have their uniforms pressed, books packed, assignments
Focus on the little wins and steal some time with the little ones while you can. Perhaps skip the next swimming lesson and duck into the bakery for a slice of chocolate cake. The littlest moments make up the best memories.
"Focus on the little wins & steal some time with the little ones while you can... The littlest moments make up the best memories."
For the busy mothers among us who need a break, take the well-deserved vacation or go on a short staycation with your girlfriends.
For the time-pressed jet-setting executive, let us take care of your day-to-day routines at our serviced residences while you focus on being the best version of yourself.
Head to Bangkok for a short vacation and pamper yourselves -
To all the women in our lives who juggle their many roles, responsibilities, identities; to those who empower fellow women, thank you!
