Why say 'I love you' in one way when you can proclaim it five different ways?
Because your significant other deserves the very best and love has no boundaries (literally) - we've gone round the world to find out unique ways to profess your undying love.
1. Je
Always make eye contact when clinking glasses, the French believe that if you don't, you will find yourself unlucky in love for SEVEN years. That... is a long time.
The origin of the superstition is a tad unromantic - apparently, this dates back to the Middle Ages when the custom was to look straight into the eyes to be sure the drink hasn't been laced with poison.
In 2019, the best way to fall head over heels is in love and you don't need an excuse to enjoy a tipple or two, so check out the selection at Wine Connection, Raffles City Singapore.
And of course, the best place to say

2. Ai-shiteru
Keep your index fingernail exactly 7mm-long and give it a coat of blush pink nail varnish, love will come knocking.
That attention to detail and specific 7mm got us scratching our heads - with our blush pink nails. Another Japanese superstition surrounding talons states that you should not cut your nails at night, else you will risk being absent from your parents' deathbed. Grim.
Finding love or showing filial piety - we do not disagree with the need for well-groomed nails. Head over to our malls to get them sorted out.
If your loved one(s), enjoys Japanese cuisine as much as we do, here are 11 authentic Japanese restaurants you can't miss out on.

3. Wo ai ni
Finish up the food on your plate or you will have a spouse with bad skin.
To be honest, we're not 100% sure if this is a Chinese tradition or a Singaporean superstition, but it's definitely something we're familiar with and have heard since we were kids.
Two ways around this - only eat good food (and in manageable portions, remember to minimise food wastage) or gift your spouse a beauty and wellness package! If it does not work out, consider makeup!
It's 2019 and we're all about taking charge of our lives and love! Love bravely!
4. Tá mé
To find out if your spouse will be 'bitter' or 'sweet', pick a random hazelnut, crack the shell and taste it. The flavour reflects the personality of your lifetime companion.
This got us thinking - when was the last time anyone actually cracked a hazelnut? We do love our hazelnut-(flavoured) lattes and cakes but these all come sweetened... does that mean sweets for my sweet?
If you're game to put this to the test, pop by one of the supermarkets and buy a pack of fresh hazelnuts.
For the full Irish experience, test this theory out in Ireland over a pint of Guinness perhaps? You heard it here - there's a promotion at Temple Bar Hotel Dublin and it's ending soon, wait no more!

5. Phom/Chan rak khun
A single girl shouldn't sing in the kitchen, or she will end up with an old boyfriend or none at all.
What about all the single boys, and why just kitchens?
This superstition left us scratching our heads but guess it doesn't hurt to hone your vocals - boys or girls. Single or otherwise.
If you're already truly / madly / deeply in love, then serenade your other half with a tune or two. No better way to wake up on a weekend morning than having your partner singing a tune, strumming the guitar or tickling the ivories.
Pick up a new skill this year and learn an instrument you've been thinking of - new year, new you! Head to Swee Lee at The Star Vista.
Better still, book your next vacation to the land of smiles and find test out the superstition in our serviced residence's kitchenettes.
