CapitaLand is the biggest winner with seven awards and the overall winner for corporate governance at SIAS 18th Investors’ Choice Awards
CapitaLand is the first to receive the inaugural Sustainability and Shareholder Communication Excellence Awards
CapitaLand Mall Trust and CapitaLand Commercial Trust clinch top two spots for corporate governance in the REITs & Business Trusts category
Singapore, 19 September 2017 – CapitaLand Limited was the biggest winner with seven awards at the Securities Investors Association Singapore (SIAS) 18th Investors’ Choice Awards held today. This is the second consecutive year CapitaLand emerged the most lauded company at the awards.
CapitaLand was accorded the Golden Circle Award as the overall winner for the Singapore Corporate Governance Award. CapitaLand also topped the Big Cap (for companies with market capitalisation of S$1 billion and above) and Real Estate categories. The Group was also the inaugural winner for the new Sustainability Award and Shareholder Communication Excellence Award.
CapitaLand Mall Trust (CMT) was the champion in the REITs & Business Trusts category for corporate governance. CapitaLand Commercial Trust (CCT) came in second place, the sixth year it was recognised for this award.

Jointly administered with the National University of Singapore Business School‘s Centre for Governance, Institutions & Organisations and Thomson Reuters, the SIAS Investors’ Choice Awards recognises companies and individuals for their excellence in corporate governance practices. Winners had to undergo rigorous assessment covering areas such as equitable treatment and rights of shareholders; transparency and disclosure practices; accountability and audit processes; as well as the responsibilities and roles of the board and stakeholders.
For the new Sustainability Award, companies were assessed based company leadership and culture; environmental, social and governance principles; sustainability framework, materiality assessment and stakeholder engagement. The Shareholder Communications Excellence Award recognises companies that practise good investor relations, covering areas including investor relations policy, disclosure practices, communication and outreach as well as analyst following and coverage.

The SIAS Investors’ Choice Awards is the latest in a string of recognitions for CapitaLand’s corporate governance, investor relations and sustainability efforts. Most recently, CapitaLand was honoured as one of Southeast Asia’s most well-perceived companies by scoring six wins at the Alpha Southeast Asia’s 7th Annual Corporate-Institutional Investor Awards held on 14 September 2017. CapitaLand won ‘Best Strategic Corporate Social Responsibility’, ‘Most Consistent Dividend Policy’ and ‘Best Annual Report in Singapore’ awards. The Group came in second for the ‘Most Organised Investor Relations’ and ‘Strongest Adherence to Corporate Governance’ categories. In September, CapitaLand also received world recognition for sustainable practices in the Dow Jones Sustainability World Index and Global Real Estate Sustainability Benchmark.
