CapitaLand Group secures top rankings in sustainability indices
Singapore, 6 August 2018 – CapitaLand Limited has been ranked third out of 589 companies in the annual Singapore Governance and Transparency Index (SGTI) 2018, under the general category.
CapitaLand’s stable of REITs listed in Singapore were amongst the top REITs in the index. CapitaLand Mall Trust (CMT) lead the REIT and Business Trust category followed by CapitaLand Commercial Trust (CCT) in second place, both taking top two positions for the second consecutive year. Ascott Residence Trust moved up three notches to third place this year. CapitaLand Retail China Trust was in ninth place. Forty-three REITs and Business Trusts from Singapore were ranked in the index.
The SGTI is the leading index for assessing corporate governance practices of Singapore-listed companies. The index assesses companies based on their corporate governance disclosure and practices, as well as the timeliness, accessibility and transparency of its financial results announcements.
In addition, CapitaLand, CMT and CCT have also been listed as constituents in this year’s FTSE4Good Index Series. CapitaLand has been included for the 5th consecutive year while CMT and CCT have also retained their listings. The FTSE4Good Indices comprise companies that have demonstrated strong environmental, social and governance policies and practices.
Mr Tan Seng Chai, Group Chief People Officer of CapitaLand Group and Chairman of the CapitaLand Sustainability Steering Committee, said: “CapitaLand remains committed to sustainability as we strive towards delivering long-term value for our stakeholders. We benchmark ourselves against international standards and make significant efforts to integrate environmental, social and governance (ESG) factors into CapitaLand’s global business that is diversified across asset types and in over 150 cities.”

Inclusion in these indices reaffirms our efforts as a responsible real estate developer and we are honoured by the continued recognition,” added Mr Tan.
CapitaLand’s inclusion in the SGTI and FTSE4Good indices add to CapitaLand’s listings in other sustainability-linked indices in the region and globally.
