A recap on how the CapitaLand Workspace Community Engagement team inspired and challenged the tenant community to do their part for the environment in the ‘Let’s Get Down to Earth’ campaign from March to April 2021, in conjunction with Earth Hour and Earth Day.

“The Earth is what we all have in common.”

— Wendell Berry, novelist.

Let us dive right into how the campaign went!

Green Idea Bank

The Workspace tenant community was invited to share their creative and practical green ideas in any of the three categories:

1. Food

2. Household

3. Recycling/Reuse/Upcycling

Over the course of the campaign, the ideas kept streaming in, and over 80 ideas were submitted!

A total of nine winners whose green ideas demonstrated practicality, creativity and comprehensibility walked away with prizes worth $1,800.

Among the submissions, some interesting ideas that stood out include a DIY multi-purpose cleaning spray with orange peel vinegar; instead of throwing out the water from the dehumidifier machine, to recycle it to clean the floor/toilet; to even freezing fruits to make wine desserts.

Lights Off with Us!

The simple act of switching off lights delivers a powerful message of the global effort to help protect the planet and create a more sustainable world.

In support of Earth Hour, CapitaLand properties across the globe showed their commitment to protect the earth and fight climate change by switching off its façade lights and non-essential lighting on Saturday, 27 March 2021 at 8.30pm.

Ahead of Earth Hour and to demonstrate our desire to do more for environmental protection, the Workspace tenant community took part in switching off their unused electrical appliances during their lunch break – from monitors, laptop chargers and office lights – on Friday, 26 March 2021, between 12pm to 2pm.

All in all, although it takes only a small effort, switching off electrical appliances when not in use is a habit that everyone should all adopt.

Doing your part to care for the earth can be simple and practical, which was what this campaign was pushing for!

Pick and Your Wish Will Be Granted!

You get to choose what you want!

The Workspace tenant community was invited to vote for an activity that they’ll like to participate in and a DIY Beeswax Wrap Virtual Workshop, conducted by BambooStrawGirl and Oh Honey! Japan, was held on 22 April 2021.

Beeswax wrap materials were delivered to the participants’ homes and each of them created their very own unique beeswax wrap under the guidance of the trainers! Sustainability tips which can be applied in our daily lives were also shared during the workshop.

Let’s Get Down to Social Media!

In an effort to further inspire and motivate the community, a series of engagement posts, such as quizzes and “This or That”, were created on your Workplace Community Facebook and
Instagram channels to share our green tips about protecting the environment.

For what it is earth (pun intended), thank you for joining in this campaign, and showing us that the earth means the world to you!

Remember to practice and keep your eco-friendly habits going! Together, let’s do our part in protecting our planet.
