The Engineering services were consolidated to form the centre of technical excellence. This centre establishes best practices and performance standards to enhance the quality and effectiveness of its service delivery system which can be implemented in any new operations. It will play an integral part in the successful implementation of TBP programmes.

Last year, the unit secured new contracts including a major contract for the maintenance of 512 lifts in Aljunied Town Council.

LOOKING AHEAD

The market will be more competitive with the entrance of strong, technologically-advanced competitors. The Company shall build up its expertise to face these challenges.

In 2001, PREMAS will transform the Essential Maintenance Services Unit – the call centre business – into a Customer Resource Centre, providing a wide range of services to both public and private residential markets.

PREMAS will continue working with the industry to extend its facilities maintenance services to supermarkets, childcare centres and elderly care centres. The Engineering expertise will be enhanced to provide appropriate support to the TBP team.

BUSINESS REVIEW

The Township Management manages four townships: Hong Kah, Bukit Timah, Marine Parade and Aljunied, totalling 270,000 public property units. With 11 years' experience in the field, it is one of the leading township management companies in Singapore.

Besides property management, the staff undertake major activities for the Town Council, for instance organisation of the combined PAP Town Councils 21 Conference. All four of the Town Councils managed by the Company also participated in the Island-wide Cleanest Estate Competition 2000, and were awarded two out of three available Gold Awards. Five food centres from the Town Councils managed by the Company were placed within the "Top Ten Cleanest Food Centres" category.

The Company intends to enhance the value for the Town Councils by capitalising on CapitaLand's database, web portals and facilities for the procurement of products and services.
