CapitaLand Environmental Policy
CapitaLand is committed to be an environmentally sustainable real estate company. As an international corporate social citizen, CapitaLand will actively engage in carrying out exemplary environmental practices and minimize pollution by:
- Striving to continuously improve our environmental performance by implementing the CapitaLand Green Buildings Guidelines to develop and manage environmentally sustainable properties in the Group.
- Exploring efficient use of resources to reduce wastage; identifying creative and practical ways to re-use our resources; and promoting opportunities to recycle waste.
- Complying with relevant environmental legislation, regulations and other requirements to which we subscribe.
This policy is made readily available to all employees, suppliers, service providers and partners.
Since 2006, CapitaLand has stepped up its efforts in the area of environmental sustainability with the following initiatives.
- Establishment of a group-wide Green Committee to spearhead environmental initiatives across the group in Singapore and overseas. It is guided by a steering committee chaired by the Group President and CEO and comprises the chief executive officers of the various business units. This strong leadership involvement demonstrates management’s commitment to the Green Initiatives.
- Green Buildings Guidelines –The guidelines advocate green best practices and cover the entire lifecycle of a building from the feasibility, design, procurement, construction to operation stages.
- Development of an Environmental Tracking System.
- Training & awareness – A slew of staff activities have been organized to heighten awareness and encourage activism in promoting Green initiatives within the Group.
- CapitaLand is the first Singapore real estate company to achieve the ISO 14000 certification for environmental management systems at a comprehensive level in Singapore. CapitaLand China has also been certified and the Group is extending the ISO 14000 certification to other overseas operations.
