Lights, camera and action! A night of blockbuster entertainment awaited everyone at the CapitaLand Family Day 2014!

Jessie Lim strolled merrily hand in hand with her husband along the Hollywood zone of Universal Studios Singapore® (USS), soaking up the atmosphere all round. “We have just stepped in and it already feels exciting!” said Lim, Senior Administrative Assistant, Marketing and Leasing, CapitaLand Singapore.

It was the much anticipated CapitaLand Family Day, held on 20 June 2014 at USS. The Park was opened exclusively to over 1,500 CapitaLand staff and their guests, and they could check out movie-themed attractions such as Revenge of the Mummy, Transformers, Shrek 4-D Adventure, to Sesame Street Spaghetti Space Chase and more. Two live performances: ‘Monster Rock’ and ‘Waterworld’ were also arranged for the night.

“My son loves to watch all the shows! And the choice of location is very good!” said Jordan Aw Yong, Vice President, Corporate Accounting Services, The Ascott Limited, who was there with his wife and two children. His wife Celine added, “The last time we were here was a year ago, so it’s a good opportunity for us to check out new attractions such as Transformers. It’s fun to join him for Family Day and definitely a privilege!”

Poh Li Lian, Senior Finance Manager, CapitaLand Limited was awed by the fact that she was surrounded by CapitaLand staff. “Everyone is a part of the CapitaLand family here! It’s a really good chance to get to know my colleagues better by meeting their friends and families,” she said. Present with her husband and two children, she was all smiles as she said, “Thank you so much for providing such opportunities for us to bring our families along. The early release at 3pm really helped because I could pick up the kids and get them ready!”

Involving the family was certainly a mission that CapitaLand set out to achieve with every of its Family Day. President and Group CEO, Mr Lim Ming Yan, who attended the event with Mrs Lim and their three sons, shared, “Family Day is an important avenue for the company to show its appreciation to all our staff and their families. By bringing everyone together, as part of the larger CapitaLand family, we hope to instil in them a sense of belonging and let them know that the company cares for them. It is great to see all staff and their families enjoying themselves.”

First-Time Wonder

It was indeed a night to remember, especially for staff who were taking part in CapitaLand Family Day for their very first time.

Yip Hoong Mun, Senior Vice President, Market Development, CapitaLand Limited, was based in Vietnam for several years and was glad that he could finally join in the fun. “This is the first time I could join the Family Day in Singapore and I have brought along my mother, wife and daughter. The atmosphere is very good. It is a perfect location for the family to get together, and also for staff to know each other and their families,” said Yip. “The organisers have put in a lot of effort and I would like to applaud all the hard work they have put in!”

For newcomer Muhammad Shafiq Razali, Customer Service Assistant, Bukit Panjang Plaza, CapitaMalls Asia, it was a warm welcome to the company that was much appreciated by his entire family. “I’ve just joined for about four months so this is my first Family Day. I brought along my parents, cousins and nephew and it’s all our first time at Universal Studios!” he exclaimed. His mother specially took leave for the occasion and was visibly delighted as she shared, “We haven’t ventured much yet but we know this will definitely be a great experience!”

A Night to Remember

It was a memorable experience for Grace Neo, Corporate Marketing Manager, CapitaLand Limited as it was her first theme park experience with her parents. “My parents are here for the first time and we enjoyed the Madagascar: A Crate Adventure. They thought that the animal characters were really adorable, especially the penguins!”

And over at the other zones of the Park, thrilling movie-themed attractions turned the excitement factor up a few notches and made it a truly unforgettable experience for everyone. Whether you were being plagued on all sides by an army of warrior mummies in total darkness at Revenge of the Mummy, fighting alongside Optimus at the hyper-realistic Transformer 3D ride, being tossed on waterways within the Jurassic Park compound where prehistoric creatures roamed free, or simply indulging in the captivating castle at Far Far Away, the silver screen certainly came to life that night!

As the night came to a close, everyone had to bid a reluctant farewell, but the magic and the memories of Family Day will undoubtedly stay on!
