Fasten your seat belts as we take you on an ascent to the pinnacle in entertainment
It's finally here - the opening you've been waiting for. Jewel Changi Airport (Jewel), the one-of-a-kind lifestyle destination, has opened for sneak peeks. This is a week before its public opening on 17 April 2019.
Already, visitors are spoilt for choice with the impressive range of over 280 stores to shop and dine at, 1 out of every 4 of them being new-to-market concepts. To top it off, Jewel got the world abuzz with its breathtakingly iconic design and the best-of-the-best attractions under one roof, never before seen in an airport.
Phones out, cameras on! Let's dive right in on what the buzz is all about:
1. HSBC Rain Vortex
This is the one thing you cannot miss at Jewel, simply because it's impossible to. Taking centrestage at a towering height of 40 metres is the HSBC Rain Vortex, the world’s tallest indoor waterfall.
Designed by internationally-acclaimed architect Moshe Safdie, the HSBC Rain Vortex is sight to behold, with water streaming ever so smoothly down seven floors to Basement 2. It is visible from all levels and every shot you take from each floor will be unique.
The view from below is a hidden gem. Watch as the hypnotising water effect gently streaks down the clear panel ring that functions as a protective layer for visitors from getting splashed. Yay to staying dry!
2. Canopy Bridge
To get high-up-close-and-personal with the HSBC Rain Vortex, there's only 1 way to do it and that's taking a stroll on the 50-metre long, 25-metre high Canopy Bridge. Conquer your fear of heights by walking along the bridge and be rewarded with an unobstructed view of the spectecular waterfall and lush greenery. Experience the rush of being up in air as the mist coming from the ends of the bridge will make you feel you're walking on clouds.
3. Shiseido Forest Valley
For those who prefer to take it easy, look no further than the richly verdant attraction surrounding the HSBC Rain Vortex, which contributes to Jewel's distinctive fresh scent. Shiseido Forest Valley is a terraced garden that is home to one of the largest indoor collection of plants in Singapore. Designed to be a feast for the eyes, there'll never be a dull moment with visitors. Try its walking trails, admire the serene mini waterfalls or just take time off for some me time - there's something for everyone.
4. Hedge Maze
Jewel is an exemplary development that masterfully blends play with nature. Entertaining as it is novel, Hedge Maze is the largest of its kind in Singapore and the only of such in an airport. Get lost (or not) as you test your sense of direction and chart through the winning path. Faced with a long weekend or long layover? No problem!
5. Discovery Slides
People want more these days, and they'll come to discover in Jewel that there is one place that will not disappoint. From afar, Discovery Slides look like a giant art sculpture with a striking reflective base. On closer look, you'll see 4 slides built into the structure that children will have endless fun with. At the top is a viewing deck, also the highest point of Jewel, where you can get a bird's eye view of the HSBC Rain Vortex and the Shiseido Forest Valley. #Wefie and #panorama time!
6. Foggy Bowls
Certain to get anyone excited, Foggy Bowls is a unique concept that mimics the effect of walking on "clouds" as the fog fills the gently sloped grounds. While the fog is safe and controlled, there's no telling from the laughter and reactions from visitors as they let their imagination run free.
7. Topiary Walk
At Topiary Walk, we take you to walk on the wild side. The wildlife sculptures placed along the trail are skillfully created using natural materials to achieve its unique look and form. It's the perfect place for the family to play, learn and appreciate the environment.
