1+1 = 3. Coming together for the win
INSIDE redesigns and redefines the laws of mathematics. We even managed to show proof of our workings!
1+1 = 3. It is an oft-cited formula, which infuriates primary school math teachers everywhere. Yet, there is some truth to the equation. Once in a while, when you combine two similar things, sparks fly and magic happens.
You end up designing and creating something that is more than the sum of the two.
Perhaps it is precisely this amazing synergy that gives the equation that extra oomph.
At INSIDE, we’ve kept our eyes peeled for these magical moments. Here's a roundup of four amazing examples as proof that 1+1 can most definitely amount to 3 (or even more!)

2 Sweet Treats = 1 Pop Pop Tea Latte
If getting your sugar fix from regular bubble tea is no longer cutting it for you, how about adding caramel popcorn.
That’s exactly what famed bubble tea chain, KOI has done. In a collaboration with Garrett Popcorn, the two brands have come together to give customers more of what they love.
Mixing KOI’s black tea latte with Garett’s gourmet CaramelCrisp popcorn, say hello to Pop Pop Tea Latte. A sweet crunch with delightful milky tea, this is almost like your morning cereal, but with a wow factor that is out of this world.
This triple layer extravaganza is not to be missed!
Pop Pop Tea Latte is a special limited-edition beverage available at Bugis+, JCube and Junction 8.

2 Yummy Biscuits = 1 Biscoff Cookie
Imagine a chunky chocolate chip cookie your hands. The scent of butter, chocolate and caramel fills the air. As you break apart the cookie, gooey dulce de leche - you can also pick marshmallow or Nutella - drips over your fingers.
Who cares about this tiny inconvenience when licking the sweet syrupy goodness off your fingers is such a delight.
But wait. That’s just one cookie. Sitting on top is yet another delectable snack. A crumbly caramelised cookie.
The sweet nutty speculoos biscoff cookie is the perfect addition, providing crunch and structure to the soft chewy centre of the chocolate chip cookie underneath.
What did we say about the formula? Two cookies, more than twice the fun. It’s so sinful, it’s nasty.
Nasty Cookie is available at Funan
2 World Famous Icons = 1 Unforgettable Experience
Since opening its doors in April 2019, Jewel Changi Airport has captured the attention of many shoppers, travellers and photographers in Singapore and beyond. Jewel Changi Airport's iconic and record setting Rain Vortex is now world famous. Simply scroll through your Instagram news feed of Jewel's location tag, and you'll see why.
Now combine that with world’s most famous pokemon. Pikachu is coming to Jewel Changi Airport. In fact, there will be eight of them!
The yellow fuzzy pokemon and his friends, Eevee and Mimikyu, will be putting up an electric (geddit?) dance performance at the Rain Vortex for the entire month of July.
The entire Pokemon Parade is about 30 minutes, starting from the west corridor of the Sheseido Forest Valley on level 1, and the dance performance lasts about 4 minutes. The parade takes place during the weekends, twice a day at 2pm and 6pm.
Spotting them at Jewel Changi Airport is an opportunity that is rarer than a rare pokemon!
Catch them all before these ‘wild’ pokemons disappear!
Remember to take home a souvenir from the first Pokemon Centre outside of Japan at the Pokemon Centre Jewel Changi Airport on Level 4 too!

2 Real Estate Players = 1 Unified Entity
Possibly the best example of how the addition of two can be more than 3 is the combination of CapitaLand and Ascendas-Singbridge. Creating one of Asia’s largest diversified real estate groups with over S$123 billion of assets under management. The enlarged CapitaLand Group began operations as a unified entity on 1 July 2019, marking a new chapter of combined competencies and scale.
We’re getting closer to go further. The Group’s enhanced real estate value chain and enlarged global network now includes commercial, retail; business park, industrial and logistics; integrated development, urban development; residential; lodging; as well as fund and asset management businesses spans over 30 countries across more than 200 cities.
It’s a winning formula, but don’t just take our word for it. Mr Lee Chee Koon, Group CEO of CapitaLand Group, said: “The completion marks the coming together of two leading real estate players as one unified entity. As an enlarged Group, we possess fully integrated capabilities in four core markets – Singapore, China, India and Vietnam, while building greater scale in developed markets. With more asset classes in these markets, we will go further to achieve transformational growth. Diversifying our portfolio to new economy sectors such as business parks, logistics and industrial properties, will give us added competitive edge via a bigger global network of touchpoints. With greater access to the best talents, capital partners, markets and asset classes, we are confident of building CapitaLand into a winning global company.”
