08 April 2015
Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, 8 April 2015 – 50 CapitaLand staff volunteers travel on an expedition to Thuan Hoa District, Long An Province, to help to complete the final phase of the upgrading works at CapitaLand’s second Hope School in Vietnam, CapitaLand Thanh Phuoc A Primary Hope School. The volunteers are made up of staff who are based in Singapore, Malaysia, China, and Vietnam.
Over the five days (3 – 7 April 2015) of voluntary work at the school, the volunteers helped to pave the yard, paint and design a wall mural, create “green” space, set up a library-cum-reading room and clean the classroom furniture. The volunteers are also tasked to have interactive learning sessions for the students so that the students could have an opportunity to interact and learn new knowledge out of their regular school curriculum. On the third day of the expedition, volunteers visited the students’ homes and spent time with them to understand their lifestyle and living conditions.
In November 2014, CapitaLand Hope Foundation, the philanthropic arm of CapitaLand, donated VND1.3 billion to build two new classroom, and a multipurpose room as well as to upgrade the existing school facilities.
CapitaLand Thanh Phuoc A Primary Hope School is located in Thanh Hoa District, Long An Province. Hope Schools are part of CapitaLand’s corporate social responsibility initiatives to support the shelter, education and healthcare needs of the underprivileged children.
