Revving To Go - Gear Up For the F1 Singapore Grand Prix with CapitaLand

Whether you're a true blue Formula 1 fan, or simply a fan of the excitement and commotion that it brings, we've got a treat for you in the form of F1-themed events across some of CapitaLand's malls.

With bumpy roads, humid weather, and 23 turns and corners, the Marina Bay Street Circuit is considered one of the tougher Formula One circuits globally.
Apart from drivers, each Formula One team also consists of over 20 pit crew memebrs, each trained to handle a specific task.
Since its inception in 2008, the Formula One Singapore grand Prix has consistently seen more than 200,000 spectators attending each year.

What's arguably most exciting about this year's edition of the F1 Singapore Grand Prix is that it's the first time the F1 World Championships will be returning to our shores since COVID, so you can bet that this year's race and festivities will be bigger and better than ever. Not only will there be live music performances and packed grandstands, there will also be a slew of F1-themed events lined up for you in across a number of CapitaLand malls.

But before we jump into what you can expect to see as part of the 2022 F1 Singapore Grand Prix, here's a little quiz to resfresh your knowledge on all things F1.

Answer: a. Sebastian Vettel

In 2019, Ferrari's Sebastian Vettel came in first place at the F1 Singapore Grand Prix, clocking in a time of 1:58:33.667. His teammate, Charles Leclerc, was a close second, making this the first time a team has ever recorded a 1-2 finish in the Singapore leg of the F1 Grand Prix. That year, Max Verstappen finished third, while Lewis Hamilton finished fourth in Singapore.


2. Which F1 racer has clocked the highest number of wins so far?

a. Micheal Schumacher
b. Sebastian Vettel
c. Lewis Hamilton
d. Fernando Alonso

Answer: c. Lewis Hamilton

With a whopping 103 wins under his belt, Lewis Hamilton is the F1 racer with the most number of wins. After his first win at the 2007 Australian Grand Prix, Lewis has gone on to win races in 30 different countries, and has won at least on race in almost every season he's compted in.

Right behind him is Micheal Schumacher with 91 wins. Before the rise of Lewis hamilton, Micheal dominated the F1 racing scene after his first win at the 1991 Belgian Grand Prix, and has even won five consecutive titles back in the day. Sebastian Vettel comes in third with 53 wins, followed by Fernando Alonso with 32 wins.


3. Which racer made his debut as the youngest driver in F1 history?

a. Lance Stroll
b. Max Verstappen

Answer: b. Max Verstappen

Having made his F1 debut at the age of 17 at the 2015 Autralian Grand Prix, Max Verstappen became the youngest driver in F1 history. Later on in 2021, he would go on to be the youngest driver to win an F1 World Championship at the age of 23, making him one of the frontrunners to watch out for at this year's Singapore Grand Prix, where he may possibly clinch his second world title.

Lance Stroll debuted at the age of 18 at the 2017 Australian Grand Prix, Lando Norris at the age of 19 at the 2019 Australian Grand Prix, and Sebastian Vettel at the age of 20 at the 2007 United States Grand Prix.

Now that you're all caught up with some basic F1 knowledge, you might be wondering what else CapitaLand malls have in store for all you F1 fans. Here's a rundown of some of the festivities that will be running from now till 2 October.

Raffles City - Race To Indulgence

From now till 2 October, shoppers that spend a minimum of $600 in a single day will be rewarded with $20 worth of eCapitaVouchers, as well as $20 worth of eVouchers for selected brands*. Apart from that, Tommy Hilfiger will be giving away complimentary ice cream treats at their Monogram pop-up at level 1, Stamford Square.

Sephora will also be commemorating the launch of their store of the future at Raffles City with a party at level 1, Garden Court, complete with great gifts, exclusive deals, fun activities, and more, from now till 9 October.

In the spirit of the F1 weekend, The Providore, will be serving up tapas, exclusive cocktails, and other beverages in their new menu, which diners can enjoy from 5pm to 11pm, from 28 September to 2 October.

Montblanc will also be joining in the festivities with their racing simulator competition, which runs for three days only from 30 September to 2 October. The winner with the shortest time and highest heart rate BPM recorded with the Montblanc Summit 3 smartwatch across all three days will walk home with an exclusive prize.

CQ @ Clarke Quay - Back With Passion

To celebrate the return of the F1 Singapore Grand Prix, Peroni and Aston Martin have partnered up to bring you an exciting lineup of live performances, plenty of food and beer, as well as a showcase of the official Aston martin Aramco Cognizant Formula One Team car. All this and more at the CQ @ Clarke Quay Fountain Square from 6pm to midnight, from now till 2 October.

Funan - F1 Weekend Market

Whether or not you managed to snag F1 tickets this year, the Sunday Social Market will be having an F1 weekend of their own at the Funan Rooftop Garden. Open to anyone and everyone, the weekend market runs from 4pm to 10pm on 30 September and 1 October.

Shoppers can expect to see over 30 curated local brands setting up booths at the market, as well as tons of good food and great music all evening long. The event is also pet-friendly, so bring along your furkids* along and join in the celebration!

*All pets must be carried or leashed at all times, and must only take the designated lift FL3 next to Eventasty at #01-13 to access the roof garden.
