Dating back to 1949, Onitsuka Tiger is one of the oldest shoe companies in Japan, with its establishment spearheaded by 32-year old former military officer Kihachiro Onitsuka with the hopes of spurring on post war youths as well as to unite people and connect communities through sports.
Subsequently, it takes on the brand name ASICS, which was inspired by the Latin maxim by Roman poet Juvenal, “Anima Sana In Corpore Sano”, which translated to “sound mind, sound body”. This becomes the ethos that Onitsuka Tiger embodies throughout its history and years of service.
To date, Onitsuka Tiger has established itself as one of the world’s leading sports brands, with multiple outlets across countries such as Singapore, Australia and Indonesia. Their trademark striped design can be recognised by millions today, while their shoes embody the unmistakable blend of Japanese heritage and modern panache that Onitsuka Tiger always delivers.
