Kid's Food Fund

A UNICEF report published in 2009 showed that there are 180 million children with growth retardation due to malnutrition worldwide.

CapitaLand Hope Foundation (CHF) launched its Kids' Food Fund (KFF) with a series of food-related programmes in support of United Nations World Food Day on 16 October 2010. The objective of establishing KFF is to improve the food security and childhood nutrition of underprivileged children in Asia.

Since its inception, the children beneficiaries reported weight gain, attained better health status and acquired more knowledge on food nutrition.  CHF partnered various non-profit organisations, including Food from the Heart in Singapore, Plan International, World Vision International and Singapore Community Development Councils (CDCs), to launch KFF programme.

The programme has improved food security of more than 24,000 young beneficiaries with close to S$1.5 million in donation.

  • 2010:  CHF donated S$525,000 to provide nutritious food for over 11,000 underprivileged children in Singapore, China, the Philippines and Thailand.
  • 2011:  CHF donated S$360,000 to improve food security and nutrition for over 12,000 underprivileged children in Singapore, China, the Philippines, Thailand and Vietnam.
  • 2012:  CHF donated S$100,000 to provide 100 underprivileged children in Singapore with year-long supply of basic food items through Food from the Heart.
  • 2013:  CHF funded S$500,000 for the five CDCs to provide 1,000 underprivileged children beneficiaries across Singapore with at least one healthy meal every school day throughout 2014.
  • 2015:  CHF donated S$500,000 to provide 1,800 underprivileged children island-wide with at least one healthy and balanced meal each school day. Staff volunteers also organised volunteer activities, such as a cooking competition and health & hygiene classes, to educate the beneficiaries on the importance of a nutritious and balanced diet.
  • 2016: CapitaLand established the CapitaLand - People's Association Community Development Fund with CHF, making a donation of S$800,000 to the Fund. Launched by Minister for Social and Family Development Tan Chuan-Jin at Raffles City Singapore in conjunction with CapitaLand's fourth annual CapitaLand Volunteer Day, the Fund will support underprivileged children in Singapore through three key programmes; My Schoolbag, Kids' Food Fund and CapitaLand Young Architect.
