CapitaLand-Bright Horizons Fund Ready-for-School Programme
The CapitaLand-Bright Horizons Fund Ready-for-School programme was launched in 2019 to help NTUC First Campus’ My First Skool pre-school children from low-income families be ready for primary school. Under the three-year programme, CapitaLand’s contributions of S$750,000 will allow more My First Skool centres to provide the Classroom Support Programme, provide graduating My First Skool Kindergarten 2 children with school bags and essentials to prepare them for primary school, and celebrate the completion of their pre-school education through learning journeys to a CapitaLand malls.
To-date, the programme has benefited over 2,700 pre-school children. A survey conducted by NTUC First Campus in March 2020 found that 75% of children who were under the Classroom Support Programme did not require learning support in Primary One.
This year, our staff from different parts of the world submitted messages of encouragement for the students to congratulate them on their graduation from preschool and give them well-wishes for the new primary school journey ahead:
I reminisce the child I was
Running around on uneven roads
Falling and rising again with bruises
I still tell stories of how
I got that cut under my chin
The stitches are but a faded presence Just like the child I used to be
I still dance for no reason when am alone
I hum and sing the tune of my favorite song
Pouting on the inside when I can’t get my way
Drawing the sun with a smile and lines around as ray Just like what goes up, comes down
I am hopeful to meet again that childhood of mine
So don’t grow up too soon
Play and question, dream imagination
Coz even though the world seems different right now
When you will look back, it will all be fine.

In 2019, the children were treated to a learning journey to Jewel Changi Airport. Read more about it here.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020, our volunteers are not able to bring the children around our CapitaLand Mall for a learning journey to celebrate their graduation. Instead, 43 CapitaLand volunteers took time off to pack schooling essentials sponsored by CapitaLand Hope Foundation and wrote encouragement cards for 915 graduating Kindergarten 2 students across 138 My First Skool centres. A video message below was also put together for the children and their parents.
