Hanoi, 21 October 2024 – CapitaLand Development (CLD) successfully concluded the second edition of the “Together We Step: Step For Kindness” campaign, part of CapitaLand's annual global #GivingAsOne initiative, with over 200 million steps recorded across online platforms and an in-person event. CapitaLand Hope Foundation (CHF), the philanthropic arm of CapitaLand Group, will donate US$30,000 (over VND700 million [1]) to Blue Dragon Children’s Foundation, a charity dedicated to supporting street children and vulnerable students in Vietnam. This donation is part of the US$270,000 (over VND6 billion) pledged during CapitaLand’s 30th anniversary celebration in Vietnam to empower disadvantaged children and youth facing adversities.

This edition in Hanoi was built on the success of the first event in Binh Duong held in March this year, and has drawn greater engagement and participation. The outdoor community event at Ocean City attracted over 5,000 participants, who collectively logged over 20 million steps. Participants enjoyed scenic 2 km and 5 km walking routes and joined a variety of interactive activities, including games and dance performances.

The participation by families, friends and even pets, reinforced the event theme of kindness and community spirit. It was the finale of a nearly two-month-long online campaign that encouraged participants to clock virtual steps. More than 200 million steps were clocked online.

Mr Alwin Low, General Manager of North Vietnam, CLD (Vietnam), said: “CLD is heartened to receive greater support for our second edition of ‘Together We Step: Step For Kindness’. We are glad to have like-minded partners, Blue Dragon Children’s Foundation, and sponsors including The Senique Hanoi, join us in this meaningful journey to uplift communities in need. In time to come, we look forward to organising more community-building activities to make a positive impact.”

The campaign’s eventual outcome is to promote literacy and reduce school dropouts among vulnerable students in Vietnam. Mr Do Duy Vi, Co-CEO of Blue Dragon Children’s Foundation, said: "More than just steps, this campaign is about changing lives. Each step taken today carries the hopes and dreams of children who deserve an equal chance to learn, grow, and build a better future. The strong community support has opened doors for children to overcome challenges and embrace education. With more hands and hearts joining this journey, we can create a future where no child is left behind."
