JOURNEY by TOUCH Community Services

JOURNEY is a Singapore brand that represents the creative talents of people with intellectual disabilities. Through this platform, the artwork of artists with special needs from TOUCH Community Services are recognised. Through JOURNEY, some 60 artists will get an opportunity to earn from the sale of their art prints, as well as gain access to platforms for brand collaborations that showcase their talent and tenacity. Such opportunities will enable persons with intellectual disabilities to contribute to society and increase the visibility of their talents in Singapore and beyond.

JOURNEY align its efforts to the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals (UNSDG). Its platform aims to promote sustained, inclusive economic growth to create decent work for all and reduce inequalities within and among countries.

JOURNEY's artists with special needs attend lessons to develop their art sense. Through this platform, they will earn an income from the sale of their artworks, thereby building their independence to support themselves.

According to Singapore’s 3rd Enabling Master Plan 2017-2021, persons with disabilities only form 0.1% of the private sector workforce. Those with complex or more severe needs struggle to find or sustain employment. Through JOURNEY, these artists are enabled to be financially independent, which improves their standards of living. JOURNEY aims to enable them to pursue their dreams and live lives with dignity.

JOURNEY's Beneficiaries

JOURNEY's special artists are adults with mild to moderate intellectual disabilities from TOUCH Special Needs Group. They attend visual art programmes at TOUCH SpecialCrafts, where their talents and skills in the craft are further developed through training and exposure to different artforms. JOURNEY's artists are taught to express themselves through art and develop their own distinctive styles across various mediums. JOURNEY’s special artists produce works of commercial value, ranging from ceramic products to paintings and printed products.
