Flight and Forest (2017)
Han Sai Por (1943 - ), Singapore
Suzhou Center, Level 1, Roundabout drop off, China
Nature and environment, both important motifs in Han Sai Por’s artistic development over decades, fit perfectly with Suzhou Centre’s dual design concepts of Flight and Forest. Responding to this theme, Han created an installation comprising 22 stainless steel sculptures each at times suggesting a flying bird, yet other times a growing plant. This reflective installation sits on a water feature, reflecting light while giving shade, signifying both organic growth and soaring triumph amidst controversies of life.
