Singapore Science Park: The Vivacious Campus That Never Sleeps
Meet the embodiment of future workspaces, cutting-edge technology and a never-ending thirst for innovation.
Unending lush landscapes. Buzzing co-working communities. Aromas from restaurants and cafes wafting through the air. Step into this prestigious landmark nestled within the Greater one-north region and these vibrant sights, sounds and vibes will instantly greet you and your senses.
One of CapitaLand Singapore (Business Park & Commercial)’s proudest creations, the Singapore Science Park started as two blocks of humble start-up units in the 1980s. Back in its day, the development was modelled after the great Silicon Valley masterplan, peppered with low-rise buildings. At its genesis, the park’s initial sparse layout meant that collaboration opportunities were limited and lifestyle offerings uncommon.
In the decades that followed, the Singapore Science Park redefined workspace.
Gradually, workplaces became more than desolate cubicles and closed-off offices. Embracing the importance of designing a home away from home, the park set out to create a refreshing environment with the right integration of work, play and learning features. Buildings like Ascent received a facelift – and transformed from a conventional workspace to a multi-dimensional compound that houses co-working offices, event grounds as well as a state-of-the-art learning facility with a 180-degree projection screen.

Today, the entire park is hailed as a contemporary world-class icon for research and development (R&D) and technology. Gone are the enclosed infrastructures of old. In its place, swathes of verdant greenery stretch across the campus grounds where business and social gatherings unfold to facilitate networking and a strong sense of community among eager park tenants. Complete with lifestyle and wellness-based amenities at every turn, this is a paradise brimming with life and well loved by its inhabitants.
With reinvention being the name of the game, the Singapore Science Park never rests, outdoing itself year upon year to meet the varied and growing needs of its tenants.
This spring, fresh new looks are unveiled yet again.
Rediscovering The Capricorn

Located strategically at the entrance of Singapore Science Park 2 is The Capricorn, a prominent building popular with R&D and software development companies. Undergoing an exciting makeover since last June, it now boasts a luxurious exterior to complement its purpose-built workspace.

Enter The Capricorn, and you will find yourself in a stunning glasshouse-like lobby that alludes to an impressive corporate image with new lift lobbies to boot. Accompanying facilities such as a lush courtyard, common pantry space and link-bridge with ample seats are also within the premises should tenants seek calm and respite in between hurried working hours.
The Galen: A Makeover

Just minutes away from The Capricorn, The Galen has also transformed beyond recognition. A sophisticated drop-off plaza creates a harmonious welcoming experience to the building, flanked by tall panels with modern timber finishes.

Inside, the grand new lounge is decked with futuristic meeting pods and cosy huddle corners, creating a conducive atmosphere for collaboration and partnerships among tenants.
A Smart lab built in tandem with a Smart City vision
The redevelopment of Singapore Science Park is not limited to just physical buildings alone. Within The Galen, innovation is at work.

In recent years, Singapore has embarked on an exciting transformation towards a Smart Nation powered by digital innovation. To that end, CapitaLand is propelling Singapore Science Park to become the face of smart cities solutions through the Smart Urban Co-Innovation Lab (SmartLab), an industry pioneering project supported by Infocomm Media Development Authority (IMDA) and Enterprise Singapore.
With the introduction of the brand new SmartLab, Singapore Science Park will now offer partners the opportunity to test smart solutions. Designed as the “nerve centre” and a collaborative platform for companies across multiple industries, the lab aims to consolidate resources to facilitate the exchange of knowledge, collaborations on problem statements and proof-of-concepts, and even pilot commercialisations. By bringing together like-minded partners, the SmartLab will catalyse formation of co-innovation communities to seed new market opportunities, starting with key industry verticals of intelligent estates, smart mobility, urban agriculture, digital wellness, sustainability and advanced manufacturing.
One such project is the 5G smart estate trial site developed in partnership with industry leaders NavInfo DataTech and TPG Telecom, and is the largest of its kind in the nation. With its initiation, full 5G coverage is extended throughout the park to support the advanced testing and development of smart mobility assets like autonomous vehicles, infrastructure technologies and in-car experience solutions. This high-speed network will support developments of use cases in other verticals as well. Both CapitaLand’s partners look forward to lending their engineering and technology know-how and resources to the venture, to deliver enhanced connectivity and quality of life to the park residents and beyond.
Undoubtedly, the introduction of the Smart Urban Co-innovation Lab has added yet another dimension to the multi-faceted Singapore Science Park – a promising destination as the test bed and trailblazer for our smart city’s future.
With Singapore Science Park, you never know what lies around the next bend. Ever-evolving to stay ahead of its time, it is indeed the perfect illustration where elegant architecture meets advanced technology and collaboration births innovation.
