Headquartered in Yokohama, Japan, FANCL is a cosmetics and dietary supplements corporation incorporated in 1981. The beauty chain was founded by Kenji Ikemori with his initial goal of developing additive-free skin care cosmetics for his wife. During one of his late-night drinking sessions, his dermatologist buddy told him that 70% of skin problems were caused by preservatives in cosmetics. This led to the cosmetics tycoon making plans to make over the makeup industry.
