CapitaLand donates US$97,000 to uplift street children and students through “Together We Step: Step For Kindness” campaign in Vietnam

13 Oct 2025

Hanoi, 13 October 2025 – CapitaLand Development (CLD) successfully concluded the third edition of “Together We Step: Step For Kindness” campaign in Vietnam. The movement surpassed the target step count of 440 million steps, unlocking a US$97,000 (over VND2.5 billion1) contribution from CapitaLand Hope Foundation (CHF), the philanthropic arm of CapitaLand Group. In partnership with Blue Dragon Children’s Foundation, the donation will go towards improving the social mobility of children and youth facing adversities through education, vocational training, and life skills development programmes.

This campaign forms part of CapitaLand’s global community initiative, #GivingAsOne, that mobilises staff, partners, customers, and the public to contribute through volunteerism and meaningful support in areas of education, health, and well-being for children, youth, and seniors. This donation is part of a three-year commitment worth up to US$270,000 (over VND7 billion) pledged during CapitaLand’s 30th anniversary celebration in Vietnam last year.

Launched in June 2025, Step For Kindness aimed to spark a collective sense of compassion and responsibility, rallying people across the nation to step up, both physically and figuratively, to raise awareness about school dropout rates and advocate vital learning opportunities for street children and students.

Following the success of previous editions, this year’s campaign in Hanoi witnessed a remarkable level of engagement. The outdoor community walk event at Ocean City attracted over 8,000 participants and more than 40 million steps recorded. The heartwarming sight of families, friends, and even pets enjoying a variety of interactive activities along the 2 km and 5 km walking routes reinforced the community spirit. The event also marked the finale of a four-month online campaign where thousands of participants clocked over 400 million steps virtually. In total, more than 440 million steps were recorded in an enthusiastic display of kindness that swept across both physical and digital spaces. The increased participation highlights how CapitaLand’s corporate social responsibility efforts continue to resonate with the Vietnamese community.

As part of CapitaLand’s annual #GivingAsOne initiative, it reflects our steadfast commitment to building a more inclusive future for Vietnamese vulnerable children and creating lasting impact for generations to come. Through our partnership with Blue Dragon Children’s Foundation, we raise essential resources that enable young people to overcome challenges and amplify the importance of education as a catalyst for change.”

Mr Do Duy Vi, Co-CEO of Blue Dragon Children’s Foundation, said: “This campaign exemplifies the best of what can happen when the private and nonprofit sectors work hand in hand. With the support of CapitaLand and the wider community, we are helping more children move away from hardship and toward brighter futures filled with learning, growth, and hope. Every step taken today represents a meaningful shift from risk to opportunity, and from vulnerability to empowerment.”
