Students to receive personal hygiene tips from Vietnam Red Cross Society
Vietnam, 22 May 2020 - CapitaLand, through its philanthropic arm CapitaLand Hope Foundation (CHF), and its wholly owned lodging business unit, The Ascott Limited (Ascott) have teamed up with the Vietnam Red Cross Society to donate COVID-19 care kits to more than 1,400 students at four CapitaLand Hope Primary Schools and Kindergartens in Vietnam. Each care kit contains antimicrobial fabric masks, liquid hand soap, hand sanitiser and a packet of milk.
More than 40 staff volunteers from CapitaLand and Ascott distributed the care kits to the students at CapitaLand Le Xa Hope Kindergarten (Hung Yen Province) and CapitaLand Tan Tay Hope Kindergarten (Long An Province) on 21 May 2020, and CapitaLand Quang Yen Primary Hope School (Phu Tho Province) and CapitaLand Thanh Phuoc Primary Hope School (Long An Province) on 22 May 2020. The Vietnam Red Cross Society also taught the students personal hygiene tips to protect their own health.

"As a socially responsible organisation, CapitaLand is committed to providing opportunities to underprivileged children with a better future by focusing on their education, healthcare and shelter needs through CapitaLand Hope Schools. In this challenging time, our vulnerable communities need our support the most. The care kits and personal hygiene tips by Vietnam Red Cross Society will help to further strengthen the children’s resilience against COVID-19. We are also encouraged by our 40 staff who volunteered their time to distribute the care kits to the students at the CapitaLand Hope Schools. By helping one another and standing together in solidarity, we will be able to overcome this pandemic and emerge stronger and more united.”

“At Ascott, we continue to provide a safe haven for our guests who have stayed in our serviced residences throughout COVID-19. Our staff volunteers bring the same level of care in our community outreach activities and we are glad to continue playing our part in making a difference to the education and healthcare needs of these underprivileged students.”

Mr Tran Van Dai, in charge of Communication for the Vietnam Red Cross Society of Hung Yen province stated that the contribution of businesses like CapitaLand is very important in supporting the community. “We appreciate these meaningful programmes during this period. Hopefully through this activity, students will improve their personal hygiene routines and preserve their health as well,” he said.

Mrs Ho Hai Yen, Principal of CapitaLand Quang Yen Primary Hope School said: “The school is well-prepared to ensure the safety and well-being of returning students and teachers. The classrooms and teaching equipment are regularly disinfected and precautionary measures such as temperature checks and physical distancing rules are in place. Education continues to play an important role in protecting our students and the school. Good personal hygiene tips can boost our collective resilience against any potential spread of the virus.”
On 7 April 2020, CapitaLand, together with CHF donated COVID-19 test kits capable of performing 40,000 tests, valued at US$1 million to the Vietnam Fatherland Front Central Committee and Vietnam Ministry of Health to support the community in its fight against COVID-19.
